TON BRITTIJN, SEASONED DEALMAKER

Arena Transaction Services B.V. (“ATS”) was established in January 2008 by Ton Brittijn (1953), who is a veteran professional in the fields of finance and legal with over 35 years of working experience.

Having been active as an auditor with one of the big four audit firms for over 20 years, Ton gathered an extensive experience in multiple industries, when he joined Royal Numico N.V.¹ in 1992. Starting as corporate finance manager he became finance director of the Numico Eastern Europe Group in 1995. From mid 1997 until year-end 2007 Ton has been Royal Numico’s senior vice president mergers & acquisitions.

Ton Brittijn has contributed to turning Royal Numico N.V. into the well-recognised powerhouse, which triggered Danone making its knock-out take-over bid in July 2007.

After a new board took over in 2002/2003 (with a.o. Jan Bennink as CEO, and Jean-Marc Huët as CFO) Ton completed over 50 transactions. Many of them were divestments (transaction values between € 1 million and € 100 million). Also some major acquisitions were among them (Dumex € 1.2 billion, Mellin € 400 million).

Furthermore Ton ran the sale (going-concern or through redevelopment processes) of eight Western European baby food plants which had become obsolete, and some other real estate transactions. In 2001 Ton led the divestment of the Nutricia Dairy & Drinks Group (with brands such as “Chocomel”. “Fristi”, “Extran” and “Nutroma”) to Friesland Foods (€ 700 million).
